The project was aiming to support people with visual impairment increasing the comfort of their independent movement. This aim was achieved by developing new-generation tactile maps with auditive aids linkable with smart mobile devices. The TOuchIt3D tactile maps have been designed to be 3D-printable in multiple colours and to be connectable with a mobile phone or tablet via touchscreen. This approach has enabled multisensorial exploring of the surrounding area for people with visual impairment and compensates the information deficit they suffered from. The development was also linked with the education process performed according to the developed methodology as a crucial part of the whole implementation process.

The project Num. TL01000507 was supported by Technology Agency of the Czech Republic and was realised between 2018 and 2020. It resulted in creating a didactical set of tactile maps, software for both using and extending the mobile application, several educational books, methodology and journal articles.
